Advertising Q&A
The following Questions and Answers section contains some general guidelines for submitting catalog advertising. Please note that all of our catalog work is done by computer (i.e. we DO NOT use a camera). If you send camera ready artwork that is larger than our page dimensions (see below), it will either be scanned as is or redone, so we ask you to please send original photographs with the artwork (maximum photo/artwork size 8½" x 14"). Although we have a very good selection of typefaces, we ask that you do not request or use exotic typefaces in your ads unless you are willing to provide a copy of the typeface (in IBM PC format) for our use.

When is the deadline for advertising?
SIX WEEKS PRIOR TO THE SHOW DATE.

What are the dimensions of catalog pages?
FULL PAGE: 4.5" wide x 7.38" long. Please follow this format. If your camera ready copy is formatted for standard letter size paper, it will not reduce proportionally and your ad will appear smaller than the actual page size.

Can I Email my ad(s) to JRDS?
Yes. You may send advertising, logos, graphics, etc. to raudog@epix.net, however, PLEASE do not email HUGE files! If your files are over 5 megs, please send them on an IBM compatible Zip100 Disk (Please note it must be a Zip100 disk) or CD.

I would like to send my ad as a computer file. What type of formats are acceptable?
Acceptable formats are as follows: WordPerfect 5 or 6; QuarkXPress version 3.3 and above; CorelDraw version 4 or 5; Microsoft Word / Publisher 2000; ASCII text.
All MUST be IBM or Windows format.
Please do not send Macintosh files as we cannot use them.

What graphics formats are acceptable? What Line Screen do you use?
We prefer TIF format. Other acceptable formats are: PhotoShop PSD, PDF, BMP,
GIF and JPG. Please note that all graphics files must be in IBM PC format. We cannot use Mac files.

Please note also, that if you send files in JPG or GIF format, the image quality may be questionable. These formats are adequate for on-screen presentations, but not very good for printing purposes.

If you would like to use one of the aforementioned formats, please make sure that any photos or grayscale artwork has a resolution of 170 dpi and any black and white copy (line art) has a resolution of 600 dpi to ensure the highest possible image quality. If your artwork includes both photos and black and white copy, please scan at 600 dpi.

If you are sending a stat, velox or film positive which includes halftones, we use an 85 Line Screen for reproductions.

Do you prefer negatives or postives?
PLEASE DO NOT SEND NEGATIVES as we are not really equipped to use them.
If you cannot send original photos / artwork / computer files, etc., please send a velox or laserprint copy.

I have a few last minute ads and the deadline has passed. Can I still submit them?
PLEASE CALL the office to see if we can accommodate the late ads. We will make every effort to include the ads, however, if the ads come in the week of the show, there is no guarantee that they will be included.

If I have photos or artwork, how should I attach them to the control sheet?
Please use ONLY paper clips or removable tape. Most of the time the photos must be removed from the control sheet to be scanned properly. If they are taped or stapled to the sheet, they can be damaged. We will NOT be held responsible for photos which are damaged due to the use of tape or staples.
